![]() Mental health emergency response line (MHERL) How does it work? When clinicians at MHERL receive a call, they can provide assessment and support and, if required, referral to other services. During business hours (8.30am – 4.15pm) Calls will be referred to the local area mental health service. Outside business hours Calls will be referred to local Community Emergency Response Teams. These teams are made up of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, nursing and allied health staff. They provide after-hours assessment and specialist intervention for people experiencing a mental health emergency. There are seven teams, 3 located north of the Swan River, and 4 located south of it. What area is covered? Teams can provide a rapid response to mental health emergencies across the metropolitan area, from Two Rocks in the north to Peel and Waroona in the south.
